Job Description
The operations manager is responsible for managing day to day operations of the pharmacy department. Responsibilities include staffing, associate performance expectation and measurement and training, pharmacy informatics, purchasing and inventory control, coordination or operational issues, policy and procedure development and implementation, as well as medication dispensing.
 
Job Requirements:
 
A. EDUCATION:
1. B.S. in Pharmacy required.
2. Masters degree or Pharm D. and Residency experience preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
1. Three to five years of hospital pharmacy experience.
C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
1. Must have current Texas State Board of Pharmacy license.
D. EQUIPMENT/SKILLS
1. Possesses well developed oral and written communication skills.
2. Possesses working knowledge of clinical information systems and financial software.
3. Possesses ability to synthesize, analyze and summarize data from multiple sources.
E. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Walks and sits intermittently, reaches, lifts, stoops and moves light equipment and materials.
2. Works in well lighted, air-conditioned surroundings.
3. No abnormal hazards or risks.
F. OTHER
1. Must have above average mental and manual capabilities.
2. Must demonstrate a consistent degree of accuracy in the accomplishment of daily activities and adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
3. Attendance is critical to the operation of the pharmacy department. Pharmacy policy regarding attendance will include quarterly sick leave review. Poor performance in this area will result in a drop in the final pay increase.
4. Must also successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination and the annual screening, each year thereafter as an employee.
