Position Summary:
Independently reviews and assesses medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems. Contacts MD’s nurses and other professionals as necessary to facilitate care. Manages drug therapy protocols as part of physician-pharmacist-nurse team. Compounds and dispenses medications, provides drug and drug therapy related information and supervises the work of pharmacy support personnel. The Pharmacist will also report to the Director of Pharmacy and will be assigned additional duties as determined by need.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Washington.
Experience: Prior hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
Other Qualifications: Must have a thorough understanding of drug therapy principles and be capable of designing, implementing and monitoring a therapeutic plan. Must have excellent analytical abilities. Must possess good professional judgment and have superior work quality. Must act to change inappropriate or unnecessary orders and solve critical drug use problems as well as follow up on problems in a thorough and consistent manner. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills including an advanced knowledge of medical terminology. Must have adequate supervisory skills to direct the work of pharmacy supportive staff.
