In 1962, our founder, Pharmacist James Ruben opened the first Shopko offering pharmacy and shopping convenience. We have remained true to his vision of being a mass retailer whose cornerstone is community health. Headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Shopko has 135+ stores in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest and is growing. Shopko is the third largest pharmacy in the entire country when it comes to number of prescriptions filled per store, per day: Our pharmacists fill more than 12-million prescriptions a year. Shopko also believes patient education is essential to effective pharmaceutical care. Therefore, we utilize excellent levels of trained non-pharmacist personnel to allow our pharmacists increased time to spend with customers so they can provide private, one-on-one consultations with patients. With a new vision, strong leadership, and sound financial and merchandising strategies, the history of Shopko will continue to unfold well into the 21st century.
