Nestled in a quaint family community northeast of Corpus Christi, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Beeville is a 69-bed acute care facility serving the residents of Bee, Live Oak, Karnes, McMullen, Goliad, Refugio and San Patricio counties.
We are currently going through a growing period where things will be changing dramatically within our pharmacy. Texas A&M HSC- Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy in Kingsville, TX, will be graduating their first class in May 2010. We will be their primary teaching hospitals and we have big plans for the next 2-3 years. In order to provide these students with the appropriate level of Clinical rotations, we are in need of Clinical-Staff pharmacists. Our main goal is to become fully decentralized and have Pharmacists on all nursing units with the expectation of training and learning simultaneously with nurses, doctors, and patients.
The successful applicant will initially receive training in order entry, IV preparation and checking, and other aspects of the day-to-day functions of a hospital pharmacy. Over time, training will involve clinical skills assessment and application of those skills. We will be developing a residency program over the next 2-3 years and part of the accreditation process, and part of our job, includes ensuring the preceptors of the residents have the skills necessary to adequately train them.
