At Carilion Clinic the Pharmacists are the medication experts and members of the patient care team. By having pharmacists partner with other disciplines, we are improving the care we provide to patients who are taking medications.
Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) is a 825-bed teaching, tertiary care facility with Level 1 Trauma. The pharmacy department at (CRMH) utilizes a mix of centralized and decentralized clinical staff and clinical specialists to provide pharmaceutical care to patient populations ranging from neonates to geriatrics and from outpatients to patients in intensive care units with a pharmacist to technician ratio of 1 to 2.
Carilion utilizes a number of technologies to include:

· computerized order entry and verification
· automated dispensing cabinets
· point-of-care bar-coded administration systems
· centralized carousels.
Provides supervision, direction, and coordination of the distributive and scheduling functions including workflows for pharmacy staff. The manager at times may be required to perform Clinical Staff Pharmacist duties and must meet all the requirements of a staff pharmacist position. Works with all the pharmacy managers to perform daily oversight and monitoring to comply with legal requirements for pharmacy licensure. Assist the Director with maintaining the department and facility for federal, state, and JCAHO surveys. Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the ACPE and an advanced degree (PharmD, MS, MHA) or Residency training is preferred.
