Under general direction, a Supervising Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical supervision for the San Francisco Department of Public Health to assure quality patient care, appropriate drug therapy and compliance with all applicable regulations. Essential functions include: managing and supervising assigned personnel, including scheduling staff, completing performance appraisals and carrying out appropriate disciplinary actions if necessary; designing, establishing, implementing and evaluating pharmaceutical services; continuously interpreting and assisting in the development of departmental rules, regulations and policies; effectively communicating with physicians, nurses, other health-care professionals as well as the general public; preparing and maintaining reports, memoranda and records; assisting in managerial decisions; developing and training staff to support and enhance professional development; and performing pharmacist duties as needed. The Supervising Pharmacist also performs related duties as required.
There is currently one position available at San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center (SFGH). This position reports directly to the SFGH Pharmacy Director, and supervises pharmacy operations during the evening shift (3PM to 11PM), Monday through Friday. Rotating compensated on-call pharmacy supervisor responsibilities may also be required.
