JOB TITLE: Specialty Care Coordinator (Ophthalmology)
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of Mail Order Operations

FLSA STATUS: non-exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Experienced pharmacy technician needed for fast paced growing mail order specialty pharmacy. Applicant will have the opportunity to learn and develop various aspects of clinical mail order pharmacy experience with an emphasis on working with oncology practitioners, oncology patients, prescription insurance verification, prior authorizations and compassionate care medication programs. This position has the potential to become a career pathway for the pharmacy technician who is able to multi-task, communicate well, follow through and who can thrive in a high intensity, high visibility role.
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE JOB:
· Call center based Specialty Care Coordinator position with ongoing patient management responsibilities.
· Places monthly calls to Oncology patients in order to
o monitor compliance/persistence of medications,
o evaluate adverse reactions,
o refer patients to the clinical pharmacist when necessary and as needed.
· Makes contact with physician offices to verify refills and communicate clinical information throughout each work day
· Notifies pharmacist of relevant clinical information gathered during calls to provider or patient that may affect a patient’s disease state, medication regimen, or method of funding.
· Enters prescription orders into HBS
· Enters clinical data requirements into HBS and/or a disease tracking software.
· Understands the process of insurance verification and online prescription adjudication
· Investigates patient insurance benefits and other supplemental payor information in order to maximize prescription medication funding and minimize out of pocket patient expenses.
· Investigates alternate funding from non-profit foundations or manufacturer sponsored compassionate care programs such as the Chronic Disease Fund, the Healthwell Foundation and enrolls patients when appropriate.
· Constant communication with health care providers, pharmacy benefit managers and patients in order to ensure the timely delivery of medications
· Coordinates medication ship date between patient or provider and our product distribution team
· Direct working relationship with the Director of Clinical Services
· Direct working relationship with National Oncology Sales specialists
· Direct working relationship with the Call Center Supervisor
· Direct working relationship with the Product Fulfillment Supervisor
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Certified and licensed pharmacy technician
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced working environment
· Ability to multi-mask and meet deadlines is essential
· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with little supervision
· Strong data entry skills
· Strong communication skills
· Ability to work individually or in a team environment
· Command of English and Spanish languages preferred
TYPICAL WORK CONDITIONS:
· Work station provided at mail order facility to complete assigned tasks
· Full-time position (staggered work shifts) **hours may require a little flexibility
