DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION & MAIN DUTIES _Working hands-on within this home infusion pharmacy setting. This is a small facility that provides mainly first dose IV fills, as well as some refill dispensing and delivery to clients at alternate sites of home care. Responsibilities will include input of refill prescriptions for current active patients; monitor and review charts and labs; fill new orders for IV antibiotics, TPN, chemo, etc,; Hands-on involvement in filling scripts as well as oversee technician work, and clinical involvement. Will also be involved with coordination of delivery to client sites, consult and communicate with home care agencies, doctors, nurses, delivery drivers. This position is the “hub” of the activity.
FACTS ABOUT COMPANY/JOB __Position open due to a recent promotion resulting in a vacancy. Very close-knit team!! Very dedicated to each other and the patients. Been in business since 1993 as a privately held successful HOME INFUSION THERAPY company with approximately 400 employees in 19 locations in 8 states.In June of 2004, company was purchased by a very large, publically owned company, and now anticipates “exponential growth”. The actual PROCESS: 80% of refill compounding done out of the central regional pharmacy. The “outer” or local offices/pharmacy compound only the first batch of the prescription. Then in case of long-term therapy, the compounding is done by the central regional pharmacy. The medications are then shipped to the outer offices/ pharmacies to be delivered by their own delivery people, nurses, etc.The pharmacists are very heavily involved in daily interaction with the patient care aspect, and intervention regarding treatment and coordinating with the referral sources, ie, medical staff, case workers, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Previous IV experience, upbeat, dedicated personality; Adaptable! Prefer working current knowledge of compounding and sterile technique and experience under the hood. Work well under deadlines. Must become board certified w/in 2-3 years in specialty of choice.

OPERATING HOURS_Mon – Fri, 9a – 5:30p, + on-call duty. NO WEEKENDS!
ON-CALL Every other week Mon – Sun (as primary on-call contact every fifth week, otherwise secondary contact to nurses); avg. 2 pages/ m-th; 2-4 hrs call-in on Sat. RARELY called-in overnight, ie. Per G.M. “only once in the last 7 mos.”
