Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist by performing various routine technical job functions while exhibiting a high degree of accuracy and ethics in their work.

Education/Experience:
Examples of qualifying education/experience are:

*       Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician school, college, training program that is recognized by Canada Safeway Pharmacy.
*        Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by a Provincial Regulatory Body recognized by Canada Safeway Pharmacy. 
* In certain provinces, experience gained working as a Pharmacy Technician in a Pharmacy setting and deemed to be acceptable by Canada Safeway Pharmacy may also be considered.

Responsibilities:
*          Operations: Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist on duty, assist with preparation and dispensing of prescriptions and over the counter medications. Access, input, and retrieve information on the Pharmacy computer system, and maintain customer records. Process prescriptions to appropriate third parties for payment.  Printing reports, invoices, etc.
*          General Skills: Mathematical skills, excellent oral, written, and listening skills, as well as administrative skills such as planning and organizing.  Excellent interpersonal skills including developing and maintaining positive working relationships with peers, management, and other departments.  Maintain a working knowledge of Safeway Pharmacy guidelines
*          Customer Service: Customer relation skills including meeting customer needs involving  identifying requirements of internal & external customers, and focus on achieving maximum customer satisfaction.
*          Cash Handling: Control cash, cheques, debit slips, and other means of payment in accordance with Safeway Pharmacy policies and procedures.
*          Loss Prevention: Ensuring all loss prevention systems are performed based on Safeway guidelines, and maintaining Pharmacy security.
