Job Description
Clinical Pharmacy Specialist II
Seven Corners, Virginia
 
One of the nations leading non profit health plans is seeking a full-time Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join their facility in Seven Corners, Virginia. In this role, you will provide customer focused comprehensive pharmaceutical care services for patients with complex medication problems. Duties include consulting with patients regarding their medication; assessing the drug therapy needs of patients and monitors progress; making timely decisions about patient drug treatment modalities within guidelines and protocols; documenting all clinical interventions and drug information requests; and communicating new medication therapies to pharmacists, physicians, and other health care providers. Other duties include developing drug education plans and strategies; supporting initiatives to achieve HEDIS targeted disease state goals related to drug therapy; acting as a preceptor and mentor of the managed care pharmacy practice residents and pharmacy students; assuring compliance of all regulatory rules and regulations; overseeing pharmacy technician staff in execution of technical functions; and taking the lead role in implementation of new drug-related initiatives.
 
Requirements include:
  • Completion of one year of residency, or three years of equivalent clinical practice experience and Board certification;
  • Pharmacy D degree
  • Specialty residency preferred
  • A current Virginia Pharmacist license
  • A current Board certification or the ability to achieve within three years of starting this position; US-BCPS preferred
  • Previous experience in primary care or ambulatory care clinics preferred
