POSITION PURPOSE:
The Store Pharmacy Department Manager works under the direction of the Regional Pharmacy Manager to oversee and direct store pharmacy operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Store Pharmacy Department Manager is responsible for leading the Store Pharmacy Operations in planning and achieving the business objectives of the store.
- Pharmacists will be required to actively participate in the Pharmacy Care program,
including immunizations. This includes successful completion of APHA immunization training or its equivalent
- Assist in developing and implementing store programs to help meet sales objectives and increase prescription volume
- Manage all activities related to the preparation, dispensing and sale of prescription and pharmacy related products
- Responsible for the operation of assigned Pharmacy which includes World Class Customer service, sales, gross margin improvements, inventory purchasing and management, expense control, staff issues
- Provide the Regional Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager updates on Pharmacy operations
- Train and assure all pharmacy staff understanding and compliance with Pharmacy Best Practice Procedures
- Ensure compliance to all local, state, federal laws, and company policies and procedures
- Adhere to all record keeping and storage requirements as per all local, state and federal laws
- Make sure all staffing needs are met including participation in the hiring of pharmacists and technicians
- Achieve overall compliance to labor model
- Administer continual evaluations, training and development of retail pharmacy staff including future pharmacy manager candidates
- Confront complex pharmacy operational issues with situation specific business solutions
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Education Level:
- Degree in Pharmacy required (B.S. or Pharm. D.)
- Licensed pharmacist in state where working
Experience, Skills and Background Level:
- Knowledge of laws governing OTC drugs, pharmacy products and third party plans
- Familiarity of Pharmacy Best Practice Procedures
- Knowledge of financial reports and their use
- High degree of initiative and accuracy
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete work with a minimum of supervision under rigid time constraints
- Customer relations skills including meeting customer needs and establishing a World Class Service environment
- Demonstrates sound business ethics
- Working knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft office, Access, Excel, and Word
- Detail oriented with ability to prioritize work
- Interpersonal skills including building relationships and conflict resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capability to effectively understand customers and employees inquiries
- Ability to work different schedules to meet store and customer needs
