Description
DaVita Rx is seeking a Pharmacist to join our state-of-the-art pharmacy in Coppell, TX. The primary focus of this position is to ensure that the medications for our patient population are entered and dispensed accurately and efficiently in a timely manner and in complete accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies. The successful candidate has a strong patient focus and enjoys working as part of a team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Interpretation and dispensing of patient medication in compliance with state and federal laws.
- Review and process prescriptions for accuracy and quality and following physicians' orders provided by DaVita clinics via fax or telephone.
- The Pharmacists in the DaVita Rx Pharmacy receive incoming phone calls, voicemail and faxed new participant prescriptions.
- Participates in Drug Utilization Review (DUR) of medication orders.
- Dispenses medications or verifies the accuracy of the medication and other pharmaceuticals.
- Maintains strong knowledge of DaVita Rx policies and procedures and applies them consistently.
- Maintains knowledge of Pharmacy rules and government regulations and dispenses accordingly.
- Consults with physicians and/or nursing staff regarding medication interactions or patient reactions to medications.
- Provides patient counseling and answers a variety of questions as presented by the Customer Service Representatives.
- May assist in the supervision and training of Pharmacy Technician and other DaVita Rx teammates.
- Assists with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and drug file maintenance.
- Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Utilizes knowledge of disease specific needs of the patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Demonstrates "leadership by example" in projecting a positive attitude, and involvement in DaVita Rx teammate activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Pharm.D degree required
- Texas pharmacy license current and in good standing is required
- Willingness to get cross-licensed in other states at the company's expense (this will entitle the Pharmacist to additional compensation)
- Excellent oral and written communication and training skills
- Demonstrated skills with the technology and equipment related to prescription entry and automated fulfillment systems
- Appropriate computer skills for the position and areas of influence
- Ability to speak Spanish or other foreign languages is a major plus
- Strong work ethic, with attention to detail and quality
