Currently, Meijer is looking for a Third Party Programs Manager:   The individual selected for this position will be responsible for contracts negotiations and relationships with either commercial or government programs, as assigned, collaboratively working with the legal department, the Manager of Audits, and the Manager of Pharmacy Plans and Systems Administration to develop ongoing contract compliance reviews, as well as review any proposed regulations and impact on the business.  Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
Strategic Responsibilities:
  •  Provide leadership and strategic direction to the pharmacy third party team
  •  Develop, manage, and execute prescription contract strategy and plan
  •  Evaluate and Plan Annual and Quarterly Pharmacy Plans to meet financial and strategic goals
  •  Visit stores and marketplace regularly to proactively solicit feedback from customers and sales managers
  •  Develop and implement programs for Meijer Pharmacists in the areas of Disease State Management and Medication Therapy Management (Commercial)
Annual Planning:
  • Provide input and assists Pharmacy Merchandising and Planning teams on the Merchandising Financial plan
  • Responsible for overall direction and performance of third party contracts within the RX business
  • Private Label Third Party (Be Well) offers for Meijer customers that are Be Well members (everyday and rotating offers throughout the store) (commercial)
Third-Party Contracting:
  • Review, evaluate, and execute new third-party contracts for Meijer Pharmacy
  • Review and engage third party if reimbursement is unsatisfactory
  • Send executed original contracts to Meijer Legal and keep a copy on file in the third-party office
Special Third-Party Projects Coordinator/Evaluator:
  • Evaluating and implementing pharmacy programs with third-party payers for patient monitoring or education (example partner third party payors: Priority Health and BCBSM)
People Development and Training
  • Mentoring, training and developing a Pharmacy Plan Associate
As a  Pharmacy professional, you will also contribute your expertise to a variety of activities, analyses and evaluations that improve our operational efficiency and value to our customers.  These activities may include:
  • Correctional Facility Prescription Contracting and Set Up (Government)
  • Pharmacy Industry Evaluation
  • DME Manufacturer Rebate Contracting

  • Medicare Part D Assistance for Meijer Customers
  • Business to Business Partnerships for Meijer Pharmacy
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Compliance
  • Government Relations and Special Programs
  • Pharmacy Advisory Committee Member for Third-Party Providers Is Required
 
Qualifications
 
  • 5 to 7-year University or College Degree with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (pre 2001) or Doctorate of Pharmacy (post 2001)
  • 4+ years retail pharmacy experience preferred
  • Registered Pharmacist preferred
  • Contract negotiation experience preferred
  • Sense of product trends
  • Knowledge of the retail business preferred
