Job Description: 

• Responsible for all pharmaceutical services within the hospital and hospital owned clinics.?

In collaboration with administration, peers, Pharmacy staff members  and members of other disciplines, engages in the following activities:

• Pharmacy candidate will have a passion for quality, a drive to excel, and a proven record of leading effective teams.? 

• Ensures continued compliance with state and federal laws and regulatory agencies such as JCAHO,

• Implementation of USP Chapter 797.?

• Provides leadership over the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies.?

• Assumes responsibility for the oversight of department finances including budgeting, inventory management, purchasing, and cost control for both inpatient and outpatient pharmacies.?

• Organizes the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee; and participates on various councils and committees.?

• Fosters a climate conducive to educational experiences for pharmacy students from colleges and pharmacies within the state.?

• Oversees the medication use process, and engages staff in process improvement and quality assurance initiatives.? 

• Accepts organizational accountability for services provided to recipients.?
• Provides guidance for and supervision of personnel accountable to the Pharmacy Director, including evaluation of performance.?
• Coordinates Pharmacy  services with the services of other health care disciplines.?
• Participates in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.?
• Assumes accountability for staffing and scheduling personnel.? 
• Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for personnel.?
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.? 

• Requirements:

  • Licensed Pharmacist in Iowa
  • Prior management experience in Hospital setting
