Position Description

• Reports to the President; is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and managing the activities of the pharmacists, the pharmD, and the certified pharmacy techs engaged in the preparation and dispensation of medications.
• In consultation with the President other professional Associates, and (as appropriate) members of the Medical Staff, develops short and long term goals and the plans to accomplish agreed-upon goals for area of responsibility.
• Develops, secures approval of, and administers budget for area of responsibility which provide for the attainment of agreed-upon goals.
• Formulates policy for area of responsibility and secures necessary approvals.  Develops and administers procedures necessary to implement approved policy and provides the overall direction to ensure efficient and effective pharmacy services.
• Interviews, hires, evaluates and (when necessary) disciplines and recommends the discharge of Associates.  Provides orientation and inservice instruction necessary to train Associates and encourages continued development.
• Responsible for the development of effective organizational structures in area of responsibility including efficient work flow patterns, delineation of duties and responsibilities, suitable staffing levels, and mechanisms for timely communication.
