Job Description

Job Summary

 

Fulfills professional responsibility in dispensing, procurement, control, and consultation involved with medication. Knowledgeable and capable of performing any pharmaceutical duty in the hospital pharmacy department and throughout the hospital. The Pharmacist must utilize a growth and development knowledge base in medication for children (pediatric), adolescent, and geriatric patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Supervises and directs support personnel.
 

 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Skills               

Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
 

Work Experience:           

Preferred but not required.  

               
Certification/
Licensure:          

Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Mississippi by the Mississippi State Board
of Pharmacy. 
 

Mental Demands:          

Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions
and adapt to changes in workload; set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to
 emergency requests; exercise professional judgment; communicate effectively (orally and in
 writing); meet the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, psychiatric,
 oncology, obstetric, chemically dependent, and rehabilitation patients.
